In the past few weeks news has been released with regards to changes in the occupational lists for the TSS visa (Sub 482). The new legislative instrument Migration (LIN 19/048: Specification of Occupations—Subclass 482 Visa) Instrument 2019 abolishes the previous Migration (IMMI 18/048: Specification of Occupations—Subclass 482 Visa) Instrument 2018 and comes into force starting from 11th March 2019.
What are the changes?
2 occupations added to the MLTSSL (Medium-Long Term)
|Telecommunications network planner||313213|
6 moved from STSOL to MLTSSL
|Arts administrator or manager||139911|
|Dancer or choreographer||211112|
Particularly, the occupation of footballer now has a caveat (limitation). Caveat 25 will now be applicable, which means that the nominated position must be associated with an annual income of at least $120.00.
16 moved from STSOL to the regional ROL
|Fruit or nut grower||121213|
|Grain, oilseed or pasture grower (Aus) / field crop grower (NZ)||121214|
|Mixed crop farmer||121216|
|Sugar cane grower||121217|
|Crop farmers (nec)||121299|
|Beef cattle farmer||121312|
|Dairy cattle farmer||121313|
|Mixed livestock farmer||121317|
|Livestock farmers (nec)||121399|
|Mixed crop and livestock farmer||121411|
Previously, occupations in blue were subject to caveat 9 only; from now on they will have caveat 10 as well. While occupations in red had no limitations under the previous legislative instrument, they are now subject to caveat 10 too.
- Caveat 9: The position predominantly involves responsibility for low‑skilled tasks.
- Caveat 10: The position is not located in regional Australia (within the meaning of sub-regulation 5.19(16) of the Regulations)
5 removed from STSOL
|Visual arts and crafts professionals (nec)||211499|
|Textile, clothing and footwear mechanic||323215|
|Watch- and clock-maker and repairer||323316|

The explanatory note originally stated that these occupations had been moved from the STSOL list to the ROL list; this statement was a mistake, as all of these 5 occupations have been completely removed from the list.
